The last time Denzel Washington and Don Cheadle shared the screen it was in the 1995 Carl Franklin neo-noir directed Devil in a Blue Dress. While not a perfect film, both actors put on fantastic performances and had amazing chemistry as the laid back 'Easy' Rawlins and the scary, sadistic Mouse Alexander. Now, for the first in nearly two decades, they'll be back together again.

Moviehole has learned that Cheadle and Bruce Greenwood have both signed on to co-star in the Robert Zemeckis drama Flight. In the film, Washington plays a pilot named Whip who saves 98 lives when his plane malfunctions and he's able to steer it to safety. While viewed as a hero, an investigation begins into the Whip's activities the night before the incident that may label him as responsible. The site doesn't specify what roles the two new actors will be playing. It was previously reported that Kelly Reilly, who played Mary Morstan in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes, has also joined the cast and will play a drug addict who befriends the pilot as they try to get their lives back on track. Production is scheduled to begin next month.

Both Cheadle and Greenwood have starred in two of my favorite movies this year - The Guard and Meek's Cutoff - so you're not going to be hearing any complaining from me about this move. As Zemeckis finally prepares to return to the world of live-action filmmaking, it seems that he's building a cast to make it an event.
