After Earth Poster Reveals A Crashed Ship On A Dangerous Planet
Following the unveiling of the official After Earth website, which offers a bit of information on Jaden Smith's character and the background for the story set to be told in the film, a new poster has made its way online, which reminds us of the dangers that await the lead characters in this story.
Directed by M. Night Shyamalan, After Earth is set in the future and stars Will and Jaden Smith as Cypher and Kitai Raige, a father and son who find themselves stranded on earth, which is not the planet we know it to be today. As the new trailer suggests, surviving on this hostile planet, which was abandoned by mankind a thousand years ago, will be no easy task.
ComingSoon shared the poster below, which gives us a look at Jaden Smith's Kitai standing atop the crashed spacecraft and looking out at the landscape.
Earth is actually kind of picturesque from that perspective, but under the words "1000 Years Ago We Left For A Reason," we're reminded that mankind no longer rules this planet. And then there's all the fog, which seems to signify the unknown for this character as he sets out to signal for help in an effort to get him and his injured father off the planet.
There's potential for an exciting story here, and from what we've heard about the film, a lot of thought and planning has gone into the background story. This includes a prequel comic and a novella series that have already begun rolling out ahead of the film's release next year. So we'll have to wait and see how it all comes together. In the meantime, the poster offers a glimpse of the start of an adventure.
After Earth arrives in theaters June 7, 2013. More information can be found in our Blend Film Database.
