For the first time since Old School Will Ferrell is set to get back into the college comedy world- only this time he won't be playing Frank The Tank. Instead, he will be playing a responsible father dealing with the insanity that comes with trying to get his kid into a good school.

It was almost exactly a year ago that the Anchorman actor became attached to star in Crazy U, an adaptation of Andrew Ferguson's book Crazy U: One Dadís Crash Course In Getting His Kid Into College, which is currently set up over at New Line. It's taken a while for the project to get on its feet, but today its taken one major step forward.

Deadline is reporting that newcomer Jesse Andrews has been hired to adapt Ferguson's book. The story follows a father who obsessively tries to get his son into the perfect college by seeking "the most sought after and expensive private college consultant in the country," nailing down strategy for the SATs, and taking campus tours. Gary Sanchez Productions, the company owned by Ferrell and Adam McKay is producing the movie, though a timetable for production hasn't been announced.

Andrews doesn't have any produced credits on his filmography just yet, but has been building a career behind the scenes. He is best known for writing the script Me, Earl and The Dying Girl - based on a novel that he wrote - which was featured on the Black List (the annual compilation of the most popular unproduced screenplays in Hollywood). That project has been steadily moving forward and is scheduled to start production in the fall with Alfonso Gomez-Rejon serving as a producer and Dan Fogelman producing.
