You may think the oddest thing about Casa de mi Padre is Will Farrell starring as Mexican rancher who speaks little English, but trust me, that's only the beginning of how strange it gets. A play on 70s Westerns, Mexican telenovelas and any other random thing that Ferrell and company found funny, Casa de mi Padre takes the absurdist tendencies of a Funny or Die sketch and expands it to a feature-length story about Ferrell's Armando Alvarez and his attempts to save his father's ranch from the forces of the evil drug dealer La Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal). He's also got a rivalry with his brother (Diego Luna), an interest in his brother's new fiancee (Genesis Rodriguez), and a white wildcat who occasionally appears in the desert and tells him what to do next. You know, like all of us do.

Last week I sat down with Ferrell, Bernal and Rodriguez--a veteran of Mexican telenovelas who shot Casa de mi Padre as her first feature role-- about the movie's odd tone, about how Ferrell adapted to performing in Spanish, and how hard it can be to keep a straight face when you've got old friends Bernal and Diego Luna improvising together on set. Check out all three interviews below, and see Casa de mi Padre in theaters this weekend.
