First Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted Trailer Appeals To Foreign Markets

Both Madagascar and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa were massively successful here in America, pulling in nearly $200 million each, but their totals domestically are nothing compared to how the movies perform overseas. When the first Madagascar film came out in 2005 in pulled in $339 million in foreign markets and its sequel somehow managed even more, banking $423 million. This fact isn't lost on Dreamworks Animation either. Need proof? The third film is called Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. The jokes write themselves.

The first trailer for the second sequel and you can check it out below. To see it in HD, head on over to Yahoo!

Directed by Eric Darnell - making the movie the first one in the series not to be at least co-directed Tom McGrath - Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted follows Alex (Ben Stiller), Melman (David Schwimmer), Marty (Chris Rock) and Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith) as they go on the lam and try to avoid arrest. To escape and get back to New York, they decide to join a circus, and as you imagine, hilarity ensues.

The film also stars Sacha Baron Cohen (who returns as King Julien XIII), Frances McDormand, Sherri Shepherd, Cedric the Entertainer, Andy Richter and Andre Benjamin. Watch out for the animals when they hit theaters on June 8, 2012.
