First Poster For Lee Daniels' The Paperboy Goes Retro

I love a good retro poster. While most studios are content producing identical posters over and over again (floating heads, blue and orange contrast, etc.), films that reach back to when movie posters were actually an artform are much appreciated. Sadly they're few and far between, but today the folks behind Lee Daniels' next film have delivered a late-Christmas/early-New Year's present for us.

The Film Stage has received the first poster for The Paperboy, Daniels' first film since the Oscar-winning Precious in 2009. Check it out below or full size over there.

Starring Zac Efron, Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack, and Nicole Kidman, The Paperboy is about a reporter who goes back to his hometown in Florida and teams up with his younger brother to prove the innocence of a man on death row. Things start to go pear shaped, however, when the younger brother begins to have a relationship with a woman that the convict has been corresponding with. The film is based on the novel by Peter Dexter (who also wrote the screenplay) and while the movie doesn't have a release date yet, it's expected to arrive sometime in 2012.
