Just three films into his career, WIll Gluck has established himself as maybe the freshest new voice in directing comedies. His witty Easy A turned Emma Stone into a star almost overnight, and this summer his Friends With Benefits paired Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake as a surprisingly successful raunchy rom-com duo. There's every reason to look forward to what Gluck does next, and for a while it seemed it might be Sex on the Moon, an adaptation of a book by The Social Network Ben Mezrich that Gluck signed on to last March. That plan may now be changing a bit, as Deadline reports that Gluck is now attached to direct and produce the action comedy Secreatries Day.

The script was written by Drew Pearce, a newcomer whose name is now incredibly well known as he's writing both Iron Man 3 and Sherlock Holmes 3-- clearly he's got Robert Downey Jr. on speed dial. Pearce has worked almost exclusively in the action or comic book genre so far, working on the script for the Marvel comics adaptation Runaways and pitching in a little on Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim, so the comedy focus of Secretaries Day might be a change of pace for him. Then again, Gluck's three movies so far have been relatively low-stakes comedies about people doing relatively ordinary things, so this movie might be his effort to kick things up a notch as well. It's unclear if he'll make this project or Sex on the Moon first-- or, hell, move on to something entirely different-- but even if you haven't seen Easy A or Friends With Benefits, Gluck is clearly a director to watch.
