Gael Garcia Bernal Stares Upside Down In New Poster For The Loneliest Planet
The Loneliest Planet, the new film from writer/director Julia Loktev, have been bouncing around practically every film festival you can imagine since last summer, but it is finally ready to make its way into theatrical release. Starting with the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland last year, the film has played at Toronto, New York, Vancouver, London, AFI Fest, Hong Kong, Sarasota, San Francisco and Sydney, but will now be finding its way into theaters this October. The drama, which stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Hani Furstenberg, saw its first trailer released online all the way back in July, but now the first one-sheet has arrived to promote the film.
The artwork comes via MovieLine and it's a fairly cool design. In addition to liking the way that the heads blend into each other, I love the creativity they had with the background, the backpackers moving across the mountains on the left side. Scope out the poster below and head over to the source to see it in its highest resolution.
Based on the short stoy by Tom Bissell, "Expensive Trips Nowhere," The Loneliest Planet tells the story of Alex and Nica (Bernal, Furstenberg), a young couple who are engaged to be married. During the summer before their wedding they decide to make a trip out to the Caucasus Mountains in George to backpack and get away from the world. During their time there, however, a minor, momentary misstep causes everything that they thought they knew about their relationship to come undone. Sundance Selects will be releasing the film on October 26th. You can see the first trailer for the movie right HERE.
