Genesis Rodriguez Could Join Paul Walker In Post-Katrina Thriller Hours
This is Genesis Rodriguez's year to blow up. While the actress has spent most of her career on Spanish-language television, in 2012 she has three movies coming out, including the previously-released Man on a Ledge, Casa de mi Padre (with Will Ferrell), and What To Expect When You're Expecting (which has way to many names in it for me to spend my time listing them here). And it hasn't taken her long to capitalize on her breakthrough moment. She recently completed work on Jee-woon Kim's Last Stand and today, according to Deadline, has nabbed a brand new role.
Rodriguez is now in talks for a part in Hours, the new indie thriller from writer/director Eric Heisserer. Set in post-Katrina New Orleans, the film stars Paul Walker as the father of a newborn girl who is clinging to life after the hurricane hits the city. The movie will be Heisserer's directorial debut, though he does have a few credits as a screenwriter, including last year's Final Destination 5, the Thing remake, and 2010's A Nightmare on Elm Street. The article doesn't say what character Rodriguez will be playing in the film. When Walker was cast in the project back in October it was reported that the movie could start production as soon as this month in New Orleans, however the new story doesn't mention a start date.
Though I truly hated Man on a Ledge, I will admit that Rodriguez's performance was my favorite part. In addition to being breathtakingly beautiful, she also showed a certain flair. She may very well be a name to be on the lookout for.
