Gravity Trailer: Sandra Bullock And George Clooney, Lost In Gorgeous Space
Whether you're a fan of smart sci-fi or of Children of Men or of Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, you've got a reason to look forward to Gravity. We've had it high on our most-anticipated list before it even started shooting, and now that the first trailer has debuted online, well… can we skip summer and head straight to October?
What's beautiful about this trailer-- aside from the visuals, which are undeniably spectacular-- is that it's a true teaser, giving us only the briefest hint of what the story is about, and revealing nothing that hasn't been in the film's synopsis that's been public for years. George Clooney and Sandra Bullock are astronauts. Something goes horribly wrong. Both of them wind up untethered from the space station, and our guess is that Clooney doesn't stick around long, since all of the buzz has been about Bullock's lead performance.
In fact, speaking of buzz, Hitfix recently heard from a source who saw the film and raved about it, and also revealed that Ed Harris has a small role as the head of mission control-- yes, just like his role in Apollo 13. We were just marveling at the way Pain & Gain reflects on Harris's role in Apollo 13 to make his character in that movie all the more powerful, and now he's returning to actual mission control? It's almost like we dreamed it and made it real.
Gravity, which is Cuaron's first film since Children of Men, which is crazy. It's coming to theaters on October 4. We can't wait. How about you?
