Guardians Of The Galaxy's Chris Pratt In Talks To Take The Lead In Jurassic World
Chris Pratt has the chance to have a breakout year in 2014 with starring roles in both James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy and Phil Lord and Chris Miller's The Lego Movie, but now it appears that he is close to landing yet another blockbuster part. Multiple sources have informed The Wrap that Pratt is in very early stages of negotiations for the lead role in Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World, potentially taking over the part that was originally expected to go to Josh Brolin.
The No Country For Old Men star first entered talks for the project last month, but apparently they were unable to work out a deal. A major hurdle in Universal's negotiations with Pratt will be his shooting schedule for his NBC series Parks and Recreation - but obviously they knew that was going to be a possible problem going in. The actor was able to work out a deal with the show while working on Guardians of the Galaxy these last few months, but it resulted in him not appearing in multiple episodes of the most recent season.
Should Pratt sign on for the project, he will join a cast that already includes Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson (of the indie hit Kings of Summer) and Ty Simpkins (a.k.a. the kid from Iron Man 3). Also in talks to join the project is Irrfan Khan, but got a taste of blockbuster exposure with a key role in The Amazing Spider-Man last year. Trevorrow will be directing the film from a script that he co-wrote with Derek Connolly, and while no official details have been released just yet it has been previously confirmed that the movie will be going back to Isla Nublar, the island from the first Jurassic Park movie. With Universal getting set to release the movie in theaters on June 12, 2015 production is expected to start up in the first half of next year.
We here at Cinema Blend are huge fans of Pratt's work, and the guy has impressed both in comedy and in drama - namely with roles in movies like Moneyball and Zero Dark Thirty. Our fingers are definitely crossed that he will be able to work out a deal and be a part of Jurassic World.
For those of you who don't watch Parks and Rec and don't know much about Chris Pratt's work, I would highly recommend watching the video below:
