Two nights ago, the LA Times Hero Complex held a very special screening of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark for its 30th anniversary, with director Steven Spielberg in attendance to answer some fan questions about whatever they feel like talking about, and thankfully Screen Rant was there to take it all down. Spielberg had a lot to say about his best friend George Lucas and his new blu-rays, and mentioned that the Indiana Jones blu-rays should be next on the conversion list, this time remastered without any mucking around with CGI.

The real treat was when Indy himself, Harrison Ford showed up to participate in the Q&A and talked about working with Spielberg, becoming Indiana Jones, and the prospect of returning for a fifth installment.
Maybe a fifth, but I ain’t going to Mars. Next time we get a script for Indiana Jones, I’d be delighted to play the character. Each time we meet him, we wanted to advance the audience’s understanding of the character, not just by putting him in adventures, but by learning something about him…that’s what led to the meeting of his father [in The Last Crusade], played by Sean Connery, and his son [in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull], played by Shia, and bringing Marion back.

This obviously doesn’t mean that we’re definitely going to see another Indiana Jones movie any time soon, they’ll have to let the wounds Crystal Skull left on fans heal a little bit longer. But both Spielberg and Ford are excited at the prospect of another installment, and with Ford’s statement about Mars, hopefully whoever decides to write the script will take the hint and leave out any of that alien garbage that plagued the last one.

There’s a bit more from the screening over at Screen Rant, so check it out. Think happy thoughts, guys. We may get another Indy and it might be good. Fingers crossed.
