The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug Trailer Gets An Awesome Lego Recreation
I was definitely what you would call a "Lego kid" when I was growing up. Whether I was hanging out with friends or just by myself in my room, I was constantly sitting in front of my giant blue toy box in my room constructing everything that I could imagine - be it an epic space war between robots and aliens or just a nice small town. I like to think that in spending all that time building I became pretty good at it, but at the same time I know that I could have never created anything nearly as awesome as the Lego recreation of the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug trailer that you see above.
Posted on YouTube by Brotherhood Workshop (and discovered by Coming Soon), the video is a nearly perfect duplicate of the Hobbit preview that arrived online back in June. According to the video's description, the reason why we are only seeing this recreation now is because it took a full two months to create. Do you still need proof of just how awesome this video is? Just watch it side by side with the live action trailer below. I guarantee you will only end up being more impressed.
The second part of Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy, the new film finds Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armintage) and the rest of the company of dwarves continuing their mission to the Lonely Mountain where they hope to recover the massive treasure that was stolen by the giant dragon Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch) years before. Along the way they find themselves facing off against elves, orcs, giant spiders, and much more, all leading Bilbo to become the hero he was always meant to be. In addition to the previously mentioned actors, the movie will also see the return of many memorable characters - including Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and Radagast the Brown (Sylvester McCoy) - while newcomers to the Middle-earth franchise include Stephen Fry, Luke Evans, Billy Connelly and Evangeline Lilly. Warner Bros. will have The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug in theaters on December 13th, while the final third of the trilogy - The Hobbit: There And Back Again - is scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2014.
And just as a fun bonus, here's the trailer for the upcoming Lego Movie from 21 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, which will be in theaters next March.
