Things appear to be moving right along for the anticipated Horrible Bosses sequel, with the core trio of Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis reportedly locked in for the follow-up to the 2011 comedy. Likely to join them is Jamie Foxx, who played a sort of mentor to the lead characters in the first film.

Earlier this year, New Line was reportedly planning on a Horrible Bosses sequel, but the status of the film's stars was still up in the air. The latest update comes from THR, and it looks like New Line has closed deals for Bateman, Day and Sudeikis to reprise their roles as Nick Hendricks, Dale Arbus and Kurt Buckman respectively, for the sequel. The site goes on to say that Jamie Foxx is in talks to reprise his role as murder consultant Dean "Motherfucker" Jones.

Plot spoilers from Horrible Bosses ahead!

The original film centered on three guys who agree to murder each others' horrible bosses. Said bosses were played by Colin Farrell, Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey. The sequel, which will be directed by Seth Gordon and is written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, will involve a brand new set of bosses, though THR notes that there's a chance Aniston and Spacey could make cameos. Farrell's character wouldn't likely be in any condition to return, being dead and all. And on that note, Spacey's character David Harken was hauled off to prison at the end of the first filme, so if he does make a cameo in the sequel, perhaps it'll be from behind bars, if he isn't either out on parole.

We'll have to wait and see if either Aniston or Spacey are set to return. In the meantime, it's great news to hear that the main cast has been secured and Jamie Foxx seems likely to return as well. And the mentioned "brand new set of bosses" certainly leaves the sequel open for some potentially great additions to the cast.
