Hugh Jackman may have broken out in American cinema due to his portrayal of Wolverine in the X-Men films, but the actor is just as much about theatrical musicals as his is about mutants with adamantium claws. A Tony award winner for his performance in The Boy From Oz, has made regular trips back to Broadway and is set to star in Tom Hooper's adaptation of Claude-Michel Schönberg's Les Miserables. So why wouldn't he want to enter the flashy, musical world of Bollywood?

The actor recently spoke with the Hindustan Times and opened up about a trip that he took to India earlier this year and expressed an interest in the genre. Jackman said that he had the opportunity to meet Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, one of India's biggest stars and was impressed by how "humble and kind" they were. When asked directly if he would ever consider acting in a Bollywood film, the Real Steel star replied, "Definitely! I am looking forward to working in Bollywood films … There are many actors including me who are willing to work in Hindi cinema … Bollywood is huge, and extremely popular over here."

It's hard to say if Jackman was just being nice, but it presents an interesting idea nonetheless. The success of Slumdog Millionaire - which made over $141 million at the domestic box office - proved that there is at least some American interest in Bollywood-type filmmaking and it could represent a cool artistic choice on Jackman's behalf. Then again, he's so busy with upcoming projects like The Wolverine, The Greatest Showman on Earth and the aforementioned Les Miserables that he may just never have time.
