The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Teaser Trailer: The Odds Are Never In Our Favor
It's here! Our first look at The Hunger Games: Catching Fire-- and not just in the form of a brief tease or increasingly elaborate teaser posters. And thought this trailer is technically just a teaser, they're showing off a lot of what fans will expect from Catching Fire-- the victory tour, the ball at the Capitol, Gale's conflict with the Peacekeepers, the seeds of revolution, and even Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee!
It's surprising how much emphasis in this goes to Donald Sutherland's President Snow, who's watching Katniss's victory tour and realizes that the glitz of the Capitol isn't able to overcome the simmering revolution that Katniss has accidentally started. The most shocking line in the trailer-- "Her species must be eradicated"-- doesn't appear in the book, but it makes explicit something that's only hinted at in the book. The Quarter Quell that occurs halfway throughout the book, sending Katniss and Peeta and other previous victors back into the arena, isn't just an accident; it's a way to kill off more of the victors and keep them from becoming as powerful as Katniss.
That's some dark subject matter, and this teaser pulled no punches in proving that Catching Fire would be even more dramatic, dark and violent than the wildly successful The Hunger Games. Set to come to theaters on November 22, Catching FIre is looking so far like everything the fans were hoping for-- and based on that killer conversation between Snow and Plutarch Heavensbee, maybe even more. Are you as psyched about this as we are?
UPDATE! Since this initial report a brand new, second trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has been released. Watch it here...
