Ice Cube Joins 21 Jump Street, Pitches Car Culture Drama image
After months of mere speculation, the 21 Jump Street reboot looks ready to add another actor hot off the heels of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum officially boarding. Musician/ director/ actor Ice Cube is in talks to play the precinct captain. A phenomenon at the time, 21 Jump Street aired on Fox in the late 1980s and helped propel Johnny Depp to superstardom. The program followed undercover police officers as they weeded out crime amongst the younger set. Presumably, the movie will look to do the same.

According to Deadline, that's not the only piece of Ice Cube news, though. The former NWA star is not only producing a documentary about the influential rap group he was apart of, but also actively pitching a new street drama about Los Angeles car culture. A potential acting and directing vehicle for Ice Cube, Chrome and Paint is a commentary on materialism back-dropped against the heavy influence of tricked out vehicles. That same pitch could either be brilliant or miserable, but we'll have to wait and see where the script takes it.

Everyone always talks about Ryan Seacrest being the hardest working man in show business, but there's no denying Ice Cube busts his ass as well. He's currently working with recent Academy Award nominee David O. Russell as well on a new Dirty Harry-inspired tribute to badassness. Which ever comes down the line first, here's hoping at least one of them will be awesome.
