Though it wound up missing out on a lot of Oscar nominations it deserved, and probably won't take home more than technical prizes on Sunday, Inception has racked up 9 nominations at the awards ceremony guaranteed to love it: The Saturn Awards. Awarded by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, the Saturns recognized Inception with 9 nominations including Best Science Fiction Film, Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), Best Actress (Ellen Page), Best Supporting Actor (Tom Hardy) and Best Director.
Other top nominees included TV's The Walking Dead with six, plus seven nominations each for Tron: Legacy and Let Me In, the latter a film forgotten by nearly ever other awards-granting body. Because the Saturns reward four different top film categories-- Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror/Thriller and Action/Adventure-- the pack tends to get a little diluted; I never particularly needed to see The Wolf Man, Clash of the Titans, Robin Hood or Alice in Wonderland rewarded as "best" anything, know what I mean? You can see a partial list of the nominees below. The Saturn Awards are handed out in June.
