Jason Isaacs Hops Into A Tank With Brad Pitt In David Ayer's Fury
Is Brad Pitt going to become the next actor, after Tom Hanks, to become completely synonymous with World War II? He's already put in one memorable performance on the war-torn European front, as the scalp-wielding Lt. Aldo Raine in Inglourious Basterds, and he's currently making his way back in Fury, another Word War II drama currently shooting in London. We thought the crew joining Pitt was already set in place, but THR has added one more name to the pile, reporting that Jason Isaacs will play a member of the five-man team of American soldiers who drive a tank over the front lines of battle.
Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena and SCott Eastwood were already on board for the film, and a photo recently tweeted by director David Ayer seemed to confirm that that five-man tank crew was already in place:
So how does Isaacs fit in? THR says he will "play the confident captain and veteran on the team that Pitt's character looks to for advice," which definitely indicates some kind of key role. Maybe one of the younger guys only joins the team halfway through? Given that it's a war movie, it's not hard to imagine one member of the team biting the bullet early on-- and if this is a story about Pitt's character learning to step up and be a leader, that cannon fodder might be Isaacs himself. Not that Isaacs can't make an impact even with a tiny bit of screentime-- he spent years taking one or two scenes as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films and making them most of them, after all. Teaming up with Ayer, who made the kinetic End of Watch, ought to allow Isaacs to show a new side of his action chops-- even if my prediction turns out correct and he doesn't have a lot of screen time to do it with.
