To be honest, Jay & Seth vs. The Apocalypse seemed like a Judd Apatow bubble project that was never going to be made. Greenlit in 2008, just a year after Rogen ruled the summer with Knocked Up and Superbad, the movie probably seemed like a good idea at the time. But unlike that DVD purchase of Funny People that you returned to Best Buy once you sobered up, this is one Apatow company brainchild that can't be undone.

MTV pestered Jay Baruchel about the project while he was out promoting How to Train Your Dragon recently, and Baruchel promised that the movie really will happen-- someday. "They're in the process of writing it right now. My prediction would be sometime in the next year and a half it'll at least get going."

The "they" Baruchel is referring to are Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg, who also co-wrote the screenplay for the upcoming Green Hornet movie. Baruchel also revealed that he and Goldberg had written a hockey project called The Goon, which they also plan to make-- Baruchel's an avowed hockey fan, and Goldberg, being a fellow Canadian, almost definitely is as well.

Check out the original Jay & Seth trailer below, featuring an un-svelte Rogen and an even more babyfaced Baruchel, and tell us if you think this is still a movie worth making.
