Joel Edgerton May Join Natalie Portman And Michael Fassbender In Jane's Got A Gun
As though it weren't enough that director Lynne Ramsey has already hired Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender to star in her upcoming project Jane's Got A Gun, she's also close to bringing in one of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood. Joel Edgerton, who will very soon be seen as one of the soldiers on a mission to find and kill Osama bin Laden in Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty, has entered talks for a part in the action western.
Based on a script by Brian Duffield, the film is about a woman named Jane Hammond who is forced to reach out to a former lover when her husband, who happens to be a criminal, has a target painted on his back by a vicious local gang. Deadline, which first reported the latest casting news, says that should Edgerton sign on he will play the role of the husband, leaving the ex-lover part to Fassbender and Jane to Portman (naturally). While a specific production date hasn't been revealed yet, it's expected that the project will be going in front of cameras sometime early next year, preparing for a 2014 release. The film will be the fourth feature for Ramsey and her first since the critically acclaimed drama We Need To Talk About Kevin, which came out last year.
In addition to his latest writing effort, Felony (which is currently in production), Edgerton is also currently developing his directorial feature debut, Weirdo, which he hopes to start shooting next year. On the acting side, following the release of Zero Dark Thirty later this month Edgerton will next be seen in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, which will be out in May.
