Joel Schumacher has one of the most diverse filmographies of any mainstream Hollywood director, and also one of the lowest batting averages. Hits like The Client and A Time To Kill have allowed him to continue working for decades, but disastrously awful flops like Batman & Robin and The Number 23 mean his name will always be at least a little synonymous with "the guy who decided it was a good idea to put nipples on the Batsuit." Fresh off last year's Twelve, which was a huge disaster even by Schumacher standards when it made $183,000 total, Schumacher is dusting himself and moving on to a new thriller; you can never say the guy isn't tenacious.
According to Variety Schumacher will be directing The Hive, a thriller with a plot that actually sounds kinda perfect for the guy who made 8 MM and Phone Booth. Here's the plot description from Variety: The project will be funded by Troika Pictures, which also has High School Musical's Kenny Ortega in mind to direct the love story Paradise Cove. Back to top
