Ever since Seth Rogen broke out with The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up a few years ago, one project that has continually been talked about but never executed is Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse. Though it began as a simple short that was shot after production wrapped on Knocked Up in 2006, the teaser trailer that was released piqued a lot of people’s interest in seeing a feature length film based on the concept. When I spoke with Rogen’s co-writer Evan Goldberg back in January, he told me that they had completed and run through the first outline. Apparently they’ve been extremely busy since, as now the project might have a cast together as well.

Rogen recently spoke with MTV in promotion of the upcoming 50/50 (which you all need to see on opening day) and revealed that Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson and James Franco may all become part of the new project. What’s more, like Rogen and Baruchel, they will all be playing themselves. When asked if Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe would be joining the cast – as was rumored last year, Rogen said, laughing, “It doesn't look like he's willing to push things as far as we [are].”

In the original short, the biblical apocalypse has come and destroyed the world, leaving Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel as the only survivors. Living together in a broken down apartment, they try to survive both the hell outside and each other.

With the extra players involved it would seem that the original plot has undergone a bit of a facelift, but it may very well be for the best. Some of the best comedic actors working today teaming up to face down demons and zombies in the rapture? You couldn’t stop me from watching that movie.
