Josh Brolin Takes Over For Clive Owen As Dwight In Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
When it was announced that the central story of Robert Rodriguez's upcoming Sin City sequel would be A Dame To Kill For the big question on fans' mind was, "What do you do about Dwight?" While the character was played by Clive Owen in Rodriguez's first Frank Miller adaptation, that story - The Big Fat Kill - is actually set after A Dame To Kill For and, most importantly, after Dwight underwent major plastic surgery to hide his real appearance. Thus, we've long been wondering who would play the role in the follow-up. Today we have our answer.
Dimension Films has sent out a press release announcing that Josh Brolin - who previously worked with Rodriguez on the Planet Terror segment of Grindhouse - has landed the role of Dwight in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Additionally, they have also revealed the plot synopsis for the central story, which comes with the explanation as to why Brolin was brought in instead of Owen.
In SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.
It's noted that the role of Ava Lord has not yet been cast, despite the fact that the film is already in production and aiming for a October 4, 2013 release date.
And this is just the latest development for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Just yesterday it was revealed that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has joined the movie in the key role of Johnny and just a few hours ago it was announced that Christopher Meloni is part of the production as well. They join a cast that includes returning stars like Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson and Jaime King as well as Dennis Haysbert and Jamie Chung, who have replaced Michael Clarke Duncan and Devon Aoki, respectively.
