Jurassic Park 3D Trailer: My, What Big Teeth That T-Rex Has
Talk of a Jurassic Park 4 remains in the air, but while that still gets settled, we'll all get the chance to revisit the timeless original in theaters. Sure, it requires those cumbersome 3D glasses, but no matter how ineffective this latest 3D conversion is, the chance to feel those T-Rex footsteps inside a theater ought to be worth the ticket. Now a trailer for the 3D re-release has arrived online, and though it's entirely footage from a movie you surely know very, very well, there's never a bad time to revisit it and imagine what the 3D experience will be.
Alright, so the shot of the T-Rex chasing down Jeff Goldblum on the back of the Jeep actually does make a pretty convincing argument for how strong the movie might be in 3D. And there's no doubt that some remastering of the sound could make the experience that much more intense on a second go-round. Like many people my age, I have vivid memories of seeing Jurassic Park in theaters and being scared out of my mind, but of course, wanting nothing more than to go again. There's a nostalgia element, of course, but I also have to imagine that modern teenagers who were born in the late 90s could go to this movie and get all the same thrills we got out of it back in 1993.
Jurassic Park 3D is set to come to theaters in April of next year, just ahead of its 20th anniversary of arriving in theaters on June 11, 1993. If you have even slight nostalgia for the movie, I have a feeling you'll be there, 3D glasses and all.
