Katniss Gets Tough Again In Dramatic New Catching Fire Poster
Are there any rocky mountain cliffs in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire? Not that we remember from reading the book. But that doesn't take away from the insane drama of the film's latest teaser poster, which popped up today at Instagram.
That hardcore quote at the top-- "The sun persists in rising, so I make myself stand"-- comes from the first chapter of the book, but isn't actually as stirring in context. At the beginning of the book Katniss is back in District 12 and back to her old habit of illegally hunting in the woods, though as a Hunger Games winer she and her family are rich enough that she doesn't have to hunt to feed herself. The line in the book simply refers to her standing up and leaving the woods to go back home, but of course, when slapped up on a poster this stirring it takes on much more meaning. Sent on the Victory Tour alongside fellow victor Peeta, Katniss inadvertently becomes the symbol for a revolution that will overtake her country-- and she's forced over and over again to keep going and fighting even when she's tempted to give up.
Unlike the first round of Catching Fire teaser posters, which emphasized the glamorous clothes provided by the Capitol, this poster finds Katniss more in here element-- standing tall, armed with a bow and arrow, out in nature. Everything else that the film has been releasing so far, though, has been mostly about the book's first half, in which Katniss doesn't get in on the action much at all-- you can see it especially in the film's first teaser. Here's hoping this is a sign that they're moving on to a marketing campaign that shows off Katniss's action heroine chops-- because months after seeing her all dressed up like a princess at the Oscars, it's high time she get to be tough again.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire comes to theaters on November 22, and you can click here for everything else we know about it so far.
