Kevin Durand To Reteam With Atom Egoyan For Queen Of The Night
Kevin Durand and Atom Egoyan must have got along famously on the set of the upcoming West Memphis 3 drama Devil's Knot, because the film isn't even out yet and the duo is already set to work together again. The X-Men Origins: Wolverine star is the latest actor to sign on for Queen of the Night, the upcoming thriller already set to star Ryan Reynolds, Mireille Enos, Scott Speedman, Rosario Dawson and Alexia Fast.
Co-written by Egoyan and David Fraser, the drama centers on a father, played by Reynolds, who has spent the last six years of his life mourning the kidnapping and presumed death of his daughter. But when he starts to recieve a series of disturbing clues he begins to realize that she may actually still be alive. We hope it's not a spoiler for the film, but Deadline says that Durand will be taking the antagonist part in the movie, playing the kidnapper. Enos will be playing Reynolds' wife while Speedman and Dawson will be the pair of detectives that have long been assigned to the case.
The 6'6" Canadian character actor has been incredibly busy as of late. After starring movies like Cosmopolis and Resident Evil: Retribution last year, he kicked off 2013 with the premiere of the widely-praised Ryan Coogler-directed drama Fruitvale at the Sundance Film Festival last week (which took home the U.S. Grand Jury Prize as well as the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award). In addition to Devil's Knot, later this year Durand will star in both Jack Heller's thriller Dark Was The Night and Harald Zwart's The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
