Kick-Ass 2 Character Posters Introduce Some New Costumed Characters
It's not often that I have to use the term "not safe for work" on comic book movie posters, but something tells me that bosses won't be too happy seeing the word "Motherfucker" stretched across your monitor in big bold letters. You've been warned!
Following the release of the badass red band trailer that was released earlier this week, Cine1 has gotten its hands on some international character posters that introduce audiences to some of the new characters in the universe. You know Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson), Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz) and The Mother Fucker nee Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) from the first movie, but now get ready to meet Mother Russia (Olga Kurkulina), Black Death (Daniel Kaluuya), and Night-Bitch (Lindy Booth). To see the posters for our heroes, head over to the source.
Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that these are for international markets, but does anyone else think it's kind of weird that these would be released before artwork for the bigger name stars? Jim Carrey, Donald Faison and Clark Duke all suit up in the superhero sequel, yet the marketing department seems to have gone for costume over star. Or perhaps they'll just show up later.
Written and directed by Jeff Wadlow and based on the comics by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., Kick-Ass 2 finds the titular hero and Hit Girl balancing their normal lives with their secret identities. When Hit Girl is forced to hang up her costume for good after getting caught sneaking out, Kick-Ass decides to join a superhero team called Justice Forever, led by Colonel Stars and Stripes (Carrey). Unfortunately, The Motherfucker is hot on the hero's tail and wants revenge for the death of his father.
Look for it in theaters August 16th.
