Latest Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy Poster May Offer Clue To U.S. Premiere Date
The latest poster for the British spy thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, which premiered in Venice this week, doesn’t actually state the U.S. release date for the intriguing new film, but it does give us a general time frame to work with.
Based on the 1974 novel by John le Carre, the film stars Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, John Hurt, Toby Jones, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ciaran Hinds. It follows a man named George Smiley (Oldman), a spy who comes out of retirement to help find a Russian mole lurking within the organization. The film made its premiere at the Venice Film Festival this week and will premiere in the U.K. on September 16th. As for the U.S. release date, there seems to be some conflicting data on that front. It may be November 11th, or December 9th, or as late as March 23, 2012. The poster below, which was posted by Yahoo, doesn’t list a specific date, however, if you look closely, you’ll see what could be a clue as to when we’ll be seeing this film in theaters stateside. ![]() As seen in the previous posters Oldman’s face is once again built in code, however in this one he’s wearing black gloves and some excellently dated eyewear. You may note the red text near his chin on the right side that simply states “Winter.” Perhaps this is their way of telling us the film’s U.S. premiere date is undetermined at this point. |
