Tom Hooper, Oscar-winning director of The King’s Speech, continues to add cast members to his star-studded adaptation of the Broadway sensation Les Miserables, Relative newcomer George Blagden is the latest name tacked onto the vast sheet, playing Grantaire in a production that already includes Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway as Jean Valjean, Inspector Javert and Fantine, respectively.

Given the fact that Hooper’s working toward a Dec. 7, 2012 release date, he should probably wrap up his casting and buckle down with filming. Rehearsals with the assembled cast reportedly started on Jan. 30. But how many months of post-production is he giving himself on what we assume is a full-blown, majestic take on the classic musical? Hooper has been toiling in pre-production for some time, so his vision for Les Mis must be complete. Now he just needs to convert it to the screen.

Blagden’s the latest talent willing to help, according to Variety. The handsome young actor recently wrapped filming on The Philosophers, John Huddles’ fantasy thriller co-starring Bonnie Wright (a.k.a. Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter series) and Daryl Sabara (of the Spy Kids films). He’ll also be seen alongside Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Rosamund Pike and Ralp Fiennes in Jonathan Liebesman’s Wrath of the Titans, which looks infinitely better than its post-converted 3D predecessor.

As for Hooper’s Miserables, the musical will be adapted from the classic Victor Hugo novel by William Nicholson Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schoenberg. Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Cameron Mackintosh and Debra Hayward will prodice the feature, which currently co-stars Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne’, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.
