Leslie Mann turned in two great supporting performance in her husband Judd Apatow's first two films, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up, but when Funny People both strained too hard for drama and bumped Mann up to leading lady, both husband and wife's careers seemed to stall a bit. Neither is down for the count, obviously, and Mann is moving on with what looks like a good strategy-- namely, acting for other directors.

Yeah, yeah, she was already in 17 Again and had a role in the entirely forgotten Shorts, but landing a lead role in The Change-Up seems like a much bigger step forward. Variety reports that she'll star opposite Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman in the comedy about two pals who switch bodies somehow-- a similar premise to the one behind 17 Again, but presumably with more R-rated results. The Hangover's Jon Lucas and Scott Moore wrote the script, which is a good thing, and directed by David Dobkin, who you can like based on Wedding Crashers or loathe based on Fred Claus, however you want to see it. Olivia Wilde is also in the film, which is happening over at Universal.
