Louis Leterrier Will Direct The Magician Heist Thriller Now You See Me![]()
Last time we heard from French Clash of the Titans director Louis Leterrier, he was James Cameron's #1 choice to direct the remake of The Fantastic Voyage he was producing for Fox. That job went to Night at the Museum's Shawn Levy, but Leterrier isn't wasting his time focusing his attention somewhere else. A press released has announced that he will be directing Now You See Me, a heist film, for Summit Entertainment.
This isn't just any bank heist movie, though, but a veritably insane one if the plot details hold up. The central characters are a crack team of FBI investigators-- par for the course, yes-- but the master bank thieves they're chasing down are "the world's greatest illusionists," who actually rob banks during their performances and pass the cash on to the audience. Producer/screenwriter powerhouse Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are on board to produce the film, which is written by Boaz Yakin and Edward Ricourt. The movie sounds kind of insane, which actually seems like a good sign-- Leterrier flailed with the godawful Clash of the Titans, yes, but that movie's strangest moments were also some of its best. I think if he were allowed to go truly over the top, more like the way he did in his Transporter films, he could give us something far more worthwhile than his two American blockbusters so far.
