After romancing Zac Efron in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Lucky One, starlet Taylor Schilling will move to become a lead (and a lower-budgeted effort) when she toplines the indie drama Stay later this year.

The Hollywood Reporter says Schilling has signed on act alongside Aidan Quinn in director Wiebke von Carolsfield’s Irish-Canadian character study. In the film, Schilling will play a young woman impregnated by a former lover (Quinn) who claims to have no interest in raising the child. Lost and broken with nowhere to turn, the woman returns home to Canada where she hopes her father can help point her in the right direction.

Carolsfield, a prolific film editor since 1996, turned a few heads with his 2002 directorial effort Marion Bridge, but it’s Schilling who’s really making a name for herself in the Hollywood community. Though Lucky One didn’t do Avengers numbers, the weeper did rake in nearly $60 million at the domestic box office this spring.

From there, Schilling moved on to roles in two high-profile pictures. She’ll appear alongside Ben Affleck, John Goodman and Bryan Cranston in Argo, due out in October. After that, you’ll be able to see Schilling in The Silver Linings Playboook, the latest comedy from The Fighter helmer David O. Russell. The film stars Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Jennifer Lawrence, and will be distributed by The Weinstein Company in November. Expect a strong Oscar push to follow.
