Back when I was in high school, I became completely obsessed with the subculture of the 1960s. I spent months reading absolutely every book I could on the subject, and one of my favorites was "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" by Tom Wolfe. The book centered on Ken Kesey, best known as the author of "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" and his gang of so-called Merry Pranksters, who dropped endless amounts of acid, hopped in a school bus covered in DayGlo paint, and drove across the country spreading their vibes. Now Alex Gibney has taken the experiences of the group and turned it into a documentary called Magic Bus.

Apple has released the trailer for the new film, which features not only interviews from the surviving members, but archive footage from the legendary trip. I'll be curious to see if the film manages to get attention from people other than those who are interested in the subject matter. What I do know is that Gibney's Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson is one of my favorite documentaries, so I highly doubt this one will be a disappointment.

Check out the trailer below or in HD over on Apple.
