I don't think I'm alone in thinking that Mark Wahlberg proved with The Other Guys that he's not nearly as funny as he seems to think he is. You know who else seems to fit that description? Seth MacFarlane, the Family Guy mastermind who created a fresh and original show, then proceeded to spin its tires for year after year while hogging the pop culture spotlight. So, naturally, these two are now planning to work together. Pajiba reports that Wahlberg is considering the lead role in MacFarlane's Teddy Bear, which would be his directorial debut.
The Pajiba folks, no fans of MacFarlane either, describe the film as being about "a 33-year-old man whose Teddy Bear comes to life and poses problems for him as an adult when it gets in the way of a relationship with his girlfriend." They also say the script includes roles for a racist homosexual and an anti-Semitic "Jewish-looking" person, all with the apparent intent of scandalizing us, or something. I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this concept as anything beyond a short film or even a Family Guy segment, but since MacFarlane has the money and clout to make it happen, it'll likely be materializing whether we want it or not.
