Michael Bay Explains The Reasons Transformers 2 Failed![]()
Today the Los Angeles Times got Michael Bay to admit what we once thought was unthinkable: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was not in fact the awesomest thing to ever exist. Though he and others working on the third film Transformers: Dark of the Moon have hinted that they were trying to make up for some of the mistakes of the previous movie this time around, their interview today posted with Bay has him saying it out right: "it failed in some key ways." Oh, and it comes with a photo from behind-the-scenes of Bay holding a bullhorn while Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley clamber over some machinery. Interested yet?
The full article is worth a read, both for how much Bay is willing to admit to his mistakes-- "It was too big of a movie. There were too many endings or too many things that felt like endings"-- and for the way he talks about bringing it back to basics on the third film, which he believes will be his last. Click on the behind-the-scenes image below to read the full article, which also comes with the requisite quote from Steven SPielberg about what a genius Michael Bay is. Come on, you knew it couldn't be an entire newspaper article that didn't glorify him just a little bit. Transformers: Dark of the Moon is due July 1 this summer; for everything else you could possibly want to know about the movie, check it out in our Blend Film Database.
