Back in October, it was reported that director Michael Mann had two projects in front of him and that he was figuring out which project to do next. The first was Big Tuna, a period mafia drama about Tony Accardo and Sam Giancana. The other was Agincourt, an adaptation of the book by Bernard Cornwell that tells the story of the Battle of Agincourt between England and France. Now six months have passed and it appears he's made a decision: he's going with option C. Deadline reports that a project called Gold has caught Mann's eye and that he is now seriously considering making it his next movie. The site describes the project as being a modern Treasure of the Sierra Madre, centering on a group of people on the hunt for, you guessed it, gold.

Though Public Enemies and Miami Vice are not examples of Mann's finest work, he is a director that I will always and forever give another chance. Seriously people, we're talking about a director who, in one decade, made Last of the Mohicans, Heat and The Insider. The man has earned his free passes.
