Morgan Freeman And Elizabeth Banks In Talks For Lego: The Piece Of Resistance
Morgan Freeman and Elizabeth Banks may be heading into the world of Lego. It's now being reported that both actors are now in talks to join the cast of Warner Bros. upcoming project Lego: The Piece Of Resistance, which already has Chris Pine and Will Arnett attached. Set to be directed by 21 Jump Street directing duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film follows an ordinary mini-fig (the general term for a Lego Person) who people begin to believe is the legendary MasterBuilder and is recruited to "join a quest to stop an evil Lego tyrant from gluing the universe together."
While there's no information about the character that Banks could potentially voice, Deadline says that Freeman may play a character named Vitruvius (though the site doesn't have any details about how he fits into the story). What's funny is that should he sign on, this will be the fourth time that Freeman has appeared in a movie alongside Batman, as it was announced in June that Arnett would be voicing the Dark Knight in the film, while Pratt will be voicing the main character. There have also been talks that the studio wants Channing Tatum to provide the voice of Superman, though the most recent report doesn't mention him. Warner Bros. sees the 3D animated movie as a potential tent pole and will be releasing it on February 28, 2014. Lord and Miller developed the story alongside Dan and Kevin Hageman.
Freeman, of course, last appeared in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, while Banks has had a busy 2012 that has included titles such as The Hunger Games, What To Expect When You're Expecting and People Like Us. Freeman recently wrapped production on the Louis Leterrier thriller Now You See Me, while Banks will next be seen in the a cappela comedy Pitch Perfect.
