New Pint-Sized Twilight Spin-Off Book On the Way
For those of you who just can't get enough of the Twilight universe, you're in for quite a treat. The series' author Stephanie Meyer has cooked up a novella for you featuring one of the characters from the third book in her outrageously popular story, Eclipse, according to ComingSoon.
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner will be available midnight party style in bookstores on June 5th at 12:01am, which surely will spawn thousands of "Is it Friday at midnight or Saturday at midnight?" questions. To clarify and be as technical as possible, 12:01am is Saturday MORNING, or Friday NIGHT. This is a lot like what they did with the DVD release of New Moon, banking on the younger kids having Saturday off from school and spending the night at their local retailers.
The novella clocks in at only 192 pages but Meyers makes no qualms about its size. The short story began as an exercise to explore the other side of Eclipse and just became too much to fit in the originally targeted Twilight Guide. To make up for it's relative shortness, Bree Tanner is being sold hardcover at only $13.99, one dollar of which will go to the relief efforts in Haiti and Chile.
To promote continuity between Tanner and the upcoming Eclipse film, Meyer hooked director David Slade up with the manuscript so he could more properly evaluate scenes.
"Stephenie was gracious enough to let me read a draft of the novella while we were prepping the movie The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and it gave us great insight and inspired location choices and the tailoring of scenes. I think fans are going to love the fascinating details involved in the loves, fears and actions of an emerging vampire.”
There will only be 1.5 million copies included in the first run of print for Bree Tanner and knowing these Twi-hards they are going to go very fast. So set your alarms on your bedazzled sidekicks and make sure you're there in full Twilight attire (Twattire) to get your copy before it's too late. Eclipse hit theaters June 30th.
