I know very little about the Lithuanian basketball team, who medaled in the sport during the 1992 Olympics, the same year Jordan, Pippin, Byrd, Johnson, and Barkley tore up the floor to win gold. The U.S. menís basketball team has gone on to become a legendary story, but for director Marius A. Markevičius, the better story was the tell of the Lithuanian teamís journey out of the Iron Curtain and on to the worldís stage at the Olympics games.

The film, aptly titled The Other Dream Team, was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at this yearís Sundance Film Festival. If you missed it then, but feel like giving it a whirl, Lionsgate is bringing the flick to DVD on January 15, and if you are more of an On Demand sort of person, youíll be able to catch it starting on December 21.

The Other Dream Team features interviews from each of the Lithuanian team members, who grew up behind the Iron Curtain in a time when athletes were punished if they did not excel. The other bonus is that the documentary features commentary from American sports personalities including Bob Costas, Bill Walton, and Jim Lampley. The DVD set will feature a few bonus features, but Iím not certain if the documentary and the extras will be worth the purchase price. Itís not like fans will be paying for Blu-ray quality and this seems like the type of thing a person would only need to rent once to feel satisfied. Regardless, you can check out the full list of bonus features, below.
