In the past few years, there has been a strange influx of talent and material coming from Sweden. It all began with the arrival of the Swedish film Let The Right One In in 2008 and has grown since, seeing projects like Snabba Cash and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo find their way into Hollywood and talent like director Tomas Alfredson and actors like Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist finding themselves in English language films. The influence doesn't appear to be going away either.

THR reports that directors Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein are currently in talks to direct the next installment of the Underworld franchise, and guess what Nordic country they happen to be from? The film will see the return of Kate Bekinsale as the vampire Selene after she was absent from the second sequel. Production is scheduled to begin next March and is based on a script from John Hlavin with revisions by J. Michael Straczynski.

The film actually won't be the first English language film by Marlin and Stein, who directed the film Shelter earlier this year. Despite having a cast that includes Julianne Moore, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, though, the film has yet to get a U.S. release date (though that might have something to do with the fact that the film has five reviews on Rotten Tomatoes thus far an not a single positive one). Frankly, I'm more amazed than anything that their actually making a fourth Underworld movie. I guess there must still be an audience out there for it, yes?
