This fall's teen-centric film The Perks of Being A Wallflower isn't just Emma Watson's chance to debut her new short hairdo and American accent-- though if you've been paying attention to tabloid reports, you might think so. It's also a risky adaptation of a much-beloved young adult novel, told from the point of view of self-described wallflower Charlie, who writes a series of letters to an unnamed friend recounting his freshman year of high school. Charlie is a sweet, well-meaning but troubled kid, and Logan Lerman's effort to capture that character with his performance is just one of the many hurdles the movie will have in convincing the book's fans that this is the right treatment of the story.

Luckily, the movie-- which is written and directed by the book's author, Stephen Chbosky, himself-- seems to be getting a lot of other things right, including casting Watson as Sam and Ezra Miller as her brother Patrick. You can get a look at both of them in the clip below, in which they toast Charlie at the end of his first wild high school party.

Miller, who was the terrifying homicidal son in last year's We Need To Talk About Kevin, ought to be one of the standouts of the cast, though with Mae Whitman, Johnny Simmons, Paul Rudd, Melanie Lynskey and Nina Dobrev also in the cast, there's a lot of competition. You'll be able to see for yourself when the movie hits theaters September 21.
