Raiders Of The Lost Ark IMAX Run Extended
Paramount gave Indiana Jones fans a treat when they put Raiders of the Lost Ark back in theaters last week for what was supposed to be a one-week IMAX engagement. Those who didn't get the chance to find a participating theater and see Indy on the giant screen are in luck, as its theatrical run has been extended, starting today.
The first installment in the original Indiana Jones trilogy, Raiders of the Lost Ark originally released into theaters in 1981. On Monday, September 7, Paramount put the re-mastered version of the film in more than 300 theaters across North America for a weeklong IMAX engagement, which has now been extended as of today (September 14).
"The re-mastering efforts by Steven, George and their team were incredible and the movie’s hugely successful run in Imax last week was a sure sign that audiences were excited to see the film again on the big screen. We are thrilled that audiences will have that chance again as part of this extended theatrical run,” said Rob Moore, Vice Chairman of Paramount Pictures.
Raiders of the Lost Ark seems like it would be a really fun movie to see in IMAX. Unfortunately, I'm out of luck because I'm nowhere near a participating theater. But those who are in the area of one of the theaters showing it now have the opportunity to check it out if they haven't already. Below is the trailer (courtesy of iTunes) released for the original one-week run, and shows off Harrison Ford and some of the movies most memorable moments. If you're not already in the mood to see the movie again, this just might do the trick.
And for those who'd prefer to watch the movie in the comfort of their own home, Paramount's announcement also included a reminder about the upcoming release of the Blu-ray collection Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures, which includes Raiders, along with Temple of Doom, Last Crusade and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. That's due out next week.
“INDIANA JONES: THE COMPLETE ADVENTURES” debuts on Blu-ray September 18, 2012 from Lucasfilm Ltd. and Paramount Home Media Distribution with seven hours of fascinating bonus material, including a brand new two-part documentary titled “On Set with Raiders of the Lost Ark – From Jungle to Desert and From Adventure to Legend.” Featuring nearly an hour of rarely seen footage from the set of the film and archival interviews with Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford, this captivating piece transports fans back to where the legend began.
