Ricky Gervais Going To The Dogs For Spy Kids![]()
Most people – myself included – will tell you that Ricky Gervais has the ability to make anything funnier. We’re about to find out just how accurate that statement is.
The razor-sharp comedian will lend his voice to a spy dog named Argonaut in the fourth installment of the Spy Kids franchise. Subtitled All the Time In the World, the sequel allegedly steers the series in a totally different direction from the previous three, with Jessica Alba taking control as a former spy who comes out of retirement to fight a super villain who can control time. Alba may be new to the series, but so long as Robert Rodriguez continues to write and direct these kid-centric films, I’m not sure how excited we can get… even with Gervais on board. The second Spy Kids was a pale copy of the original, and the less we say about the dreadful part three – with Sylvester Stallone as a malicious video-game designer – the better. Rodriguez claims he’s making these movies as special gifts to his children. What a mean dad. As for Gervais, he tells EW, “Not only am I lending my voice to Spy Kids, but they can keep it. I’m sick of it.” That line, right there, is infinitely funnier than anything ever said in a Spy Kids film. So there’s hope. All the Time In the World co-stars Danny Trejo, Joel McHale and Jeremy Piven alongside original series stars Alexa Vega, Daryl Sabara and Antonio Banderas. It will be in theaters on Aug. 19. |
