Ridley Scott's Alien Prequel Will Be In 3D
While we talk nonstop about prequels and sequels and reboots of movies that no one really cares about, I keep forgetting one actually exciting thing that's happening: Ridley Scott himself is directing a prequel to Alien. Sure, it has about even odds of turning out horribly, but still, the notion of a master filmmaker returning to the story that made him a legend is intriguing, even if none of us think he's got the skills anymore.
Not to rain on your parade, but there's now a bit of news about Scott's Alien prequel that may make you roll your eyes. Shadowlocked (via Slashfilm) has confirmed with the film's art director Roger Christian that the film will be shot in 3D. I know, I know: duh. But he also had some encouraging things to say about the film, including his hopes for a trilogy:
e has a very clear understanding of where this should go. They kind of stopped dead one of the greatest horror franchises there's ever been, and it had legs to go on. So I'm hoping he'll revive another three.
Three more Alien films on top of all the bad ones (and two genius ones ) we've already got? I'm tempted to cry overkill, but who knows how it might pan out. Scott may be waiting for Robin Hood to get in theaters before properly starting work on Alien, but I'm dying to hear more about where he's going with this
