Robert Luketic To Direct Diamond Heist Film Brilliant![]()
I don't know if it's a delayed reaction to Inception or what, but it seems that heist movies are making their way back in a big way. First it was announced that director Jaume Collet-Serra is going to remake Jean-Pierre Melville's Le Cercle Rouge, and then it was reported that both Andrew Garfield and Ewan McGregor have signed on to separate bank robbing flicks. But we're not done yet, because now director Robert Luketic is getting into the game.
Variety reports that the Killers helmer has signed on to make Brilliant, based on a script by Gillian Gorfil and Elizabeth Shorten. In the story a young thief finds himself paired up with some of the greatest bandits in the world who are in the midst of "planning the biggest diamond heist of all time." Backed by Lakeshore Entertainment, casting has begun, but the project doesn't have a start date or distributor yet. I personally love heist films and would love to see them start coming in droves, but having Luketic at the head of one doesn't exactly excite me. After all, the most recent entries on the guy's filmography are two crappy Katherine Heigl movies. Not exactly something that builds confidence. |
