Sam Mendes Tugs At Your Hearstrings By Directing New iPhone Ad
Either you're already planning to wait in line at the Apple store or you're already scoffing about how your Droid does everything better, but regardless you're probably aware by now that Apple announced the iPhone 4 yesterday, and the entire geek world has responded by flipping out. Sure, there's plenty of technical toys to get excited about, but to sell products Apple also needs to appeal to your emotions-- and that's where Sam Mendes comes in.
The director had been focusing recently on directing a new James Bond movie (until it got postponed indefinitely by the studio), but he still had all of his emotional skills in check when making the iPhone ad you can see below (via Slashfilm). To be honest, the ad could really be directed by anyone, but it's kind of nice to know that the guy who ripped out your heart with Revolutionary Road is back to make you go all warm and fuzzy watching a man in the military witnessing the first sonogram of his child. It doesn't make me any more likely to swap my year-old iPhone for the new model, but my heartstrings do feel nice and tugged.
