Scarlett Johansson Gets Spirit Character Poster Much like the poster we saw featuring Eva Mendes last week, Scarlett Johansson is now the star of her own poster for The Spirit. It's the same format as the Mendes one-- black and white close-up of a character, plus a hint of color-- but given that it's a different character and a different sex symbol, there's plenty to be excited about.

The poster, in high-res below, introduces Scarlett Johansson as Silken Floss. Well, that might be Dr. Silken Floss to you. In The Spirit graphic novel she plays a brilliant surgeon and nuclear physicist, but either because Frank Miller is intimidated by powerful women or because no one would believe ScarJo as a nuclear physicist, she seems to have been demoted in the movie to be The Octopus' secretary.

Now, The Octopus is played by Samuel L. Jackson, and I'll be as happy as anyone to see these two team up. But come on, what's wrong with a smart lady, huh? Scarlett is wearing glasses in the poster, which gives hope that she'll be a smarter-than-average secretary. And she's got the tantalizing phrase "On your knees then..." written on her face, which means she's got power over at least one person. The poster itself is pretty awesome all around, actually. I just hope I don't see the movie and become disappointed because the character was better in the poster.
