Second Mars Needs Moms Trailer Proves MoCap Is Still Creepy
It's been nearly seven years since Robert Zemeckis made The Polar Express, the first film to be made entirely with motion capture characters. It's hard to argue that the technology isn't astounding, the style does still have one major problem: the uncanny valley. No matter how realistic the characters may get, humans will always be creeped out by things that appear to be human but aren't. Need proof that we still haven't gotten over that hurdle? Check out the trailer for Mars Needs Moms.
Apple has posted the look at the film which was directed by Simon Wells with Zemeckis serving as producer. In the film, a young kid learns a hard lesson when his mom is abducted by martians who "plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young." The movie features the voice talents of Seth Green, Joan Cusack, and Dan Fogler.
