Some authors just have a voice that translates well from novel to the big screen. Names like Philip K. Dick, Stephen King, John Grisham, and Dennis Lehane regularly pop up in movie news reports as studios buy the rights to their work to make new films. DreamWorks is gambling that Silver Linings Playbook author Matthew Quick has one of those voices.

Deadline has gotten word that the studio has purchased the rights to The Good Luck of Right Now, Quick's latest book - which currently only exists in manuscript form. The report says that the plot follows four separate, independent individuals who find themselves all brought together "in the wake of grieving over pain and loss in their lives." The main character is described by the site as being possibly bi-polar and taking care of his dementia-stricken mother.

Said Production President Holly Bario about the acquisition, "We immediately sparked to Matthew Quick’s book and the heart and humor which is infused in his storytelling. All of us at DreamWorks are excited to begin developing this story and look to make it a priority at the studio."

Silver Linings Playbook wasn't developed by Dreamworks, but was instead made by The Weinstein Company. The film is up for eight Academy Awards this year including Best Picture, Director (David O. Russell), Actress (Jennifer Lawrence), Actor (Bradley Cooper), Supporting Actor (Robert De Niro), Supporting Actress (Jacki Weaver), Adapted Screenplay (Russell), and Editing (Jay Cassidy and Crispin Struthers). The film is currently in theaters and if you haven't already seen it, what are you waiting for?!
